Meal planning and serving times — the kitchen counts from bookings
How many portions tomorrow, at what time and for whom. The numbers come from bookings, not from a note somebody carried into the kitchen last night.

The kitchen learns the portion count in the evening, usually from a note or over the phone. Whoever counted knows — and if they got it wrong, it shows up in the morning.
Serving times are set separately for each group so they do not all queue at once. The schedule is worked out in someone's head and lives on a board by the kitchen.
Exceptions are the rule: a campfire instead of dinner, packed lunches for a trip, a group leaving after breakfast. Each one has to be remembered and subtracted by hand.
How bedcal does it
The number of people in a group and their stay dates give the portion count for each day. Nobody retypes it, so there is nowhere to go wrong.
You set breakfast, lunch and dinner times for the whole day. Groups with a different schedule get their own time — the rest take the default.
A campfire replaces dinner and those portions drop out of the count. Packed lunches are counted at breakfast. A group leaving in the morning is not counted for lunch.
The cook has their own account and sees only what is needed: portion counts, times and diets. Amounts and settlements are not visible at all.
Questions
Do you handle special diets?
Yes. On each group you record how many meals are vegetarian, gluten-free or otherwise special, and the kitchen sheet shows them separately alongside the general count.
Can guests see the meal plan?
Yes. You share a public plan behind a link — no login and no account on their side. They see times and the menu, and nobody but themselves.
What about dining rooms when groups do not fit?
You assign groups to rooms and times so that they do not overlap. The plan shows how many people eat in a given room at a given time.
Does the kitchen have to log in?
It does not. The sheet for the next day can be printed with one click and pinned up where the note used to hang.
